Summer means time outside with family, friends, drinks and BBQ. The season is in full swing, but for Bullhorn BBQ, the temperature and the smoke are just starting to rise. Tadano and Blue Hat Crane are proud to sponsor Tadano America’s senior parts technical representative, Rob Arocha and his BBQ team, Bullhorn BBQ. They will be competing with some of the most talented teams from across the world for the highest honor of Grand Champion at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue® Invitational Contest. The event is to be held Labor Day weekend at the Kansas Speedway.

In order to be eligible for the 2017 Invitational Contest, teams are required to have won a Grand Champion from a qualifying contest through a partnering sanctioning body prior to July 1, 2017. All teams invited to compete in the Invitational Contest are required to cook in both the Invitational and the Open Meats Contest. Although they have been invited 4 times, this is the 2nd time Bullhorn BBQ has been participated in the competition.

Last year at Kansas Speedway, Bullhorn BBQ was one of 180 competitive teams taking part in the World Series. In the Open competition, Bullhorn BBQ finished 159 out of 557 teams.  “We stayed true to our Texas style and came away from the American Royal with a sense of belonging amongst that group of competitors,” Arocha said. “We had such a great experience and are looking forward to this year’s competition.”

Bullhorn BBQ has competed against other barbecue pit crews since 2012. “We are very excited to return to the Royal. We learned so much as ‘Royal Rookies’ and we’re ready to apply what we learned and improve on last year’s results.”

The night before the competition, Tadano America and Blue Hat Crane will host customers, vendors, and employees at their sponsored tent on the Speedway to sample brisket, chicken and sausage. They are expecting over 200 people to come through come through and sample Bullhorn’s BBQ on Friday night alone. Ken Butz, vice president of sales at Tadano America, and Florian Rothbrust, President at Blue Hat Crane, will welcome guests to the party and are pleased to sponsor Bullhorn BBQ.
